What Is Fire Glass?

My colleague tells me something about fire glass with me this morning. I wasn't know what is that actually, so I tried to do a search online, as usual, I found many result at Google search. But those results make me more confuse about that. I saw some website showing the fire glass crystal picture and some if showing fire glass table. Hmm...still not very clear what is that about. It is a material or what?
