Which Plan?

I don’t know what is the different of term insurance and permanent insurance actually. Hmm.. Could anyone let me know the detail of term insurance vs. permanent insurance? I think I need to understand what they are before I request for quotation. I am thinking to get one insurance plan as an investment that could withdraw when my kid is 18 years old. So which insurance plan is suitable for me?
