The Making Of Rice Dumpling
This post is for myself..hehee...Coz my mama complained us (5 sisters), no one r learn this skill from her..and she worry later she has no energy to wrap for us..then my papa kenot enjoy homemade dumpling liao...see..wat a traditional wife..always put husband at 1st place wan...
I know I will try to do it by myself .. one day ..... In fact, I learned it liao lah..just no time to do experiment again..hehe..very troublesome of preparation lah... gotta spend half day for prepare ingredients only ler...
Fried with main seasoning : Five Spices Powder, Soy Sauce, Dark Soy Sause, Pepper, Oil, Salt & Sugar
1) Glutinous Rice (Soaked) ~ Oil & Onion Only
2) Dried Shrimps (Soaked) + Many Onion (Chop) ~ no salt
3) Mushroom + meat + Dried Chestnuts
4) Green Peas (Soaked) ~ Boil with salt Only
5) Salted Egg York ~ Cut
Spread a layer of glutinous rice over dumpling leaves & then spread another layer of green beans
Add in others ingredients, then Spread another layer of green beans & rice to cover the ingredients.
Then fold the leaf tie..
Hang at the door lock to support & tie it with straw..
Cut the hard bamboo leaf....To avoid it damage others dumpling..
2 kilos of rice = 53 pcs Dumpling
Special wrap the Pillow Dumpling (hehe..my mama EFNTD liao)
Boil big tong of water then add all dumpling, cook for 4 - 5 hours..add in hot water continuing..
ok...All done..can enjoy liao...My mama homemade rice dumpling (Hum Yok Chung)..
Why wrap so many? haii..coz my mother r too nice liao lah...5 for Ah soh, 5 for Ah Sok, 5 for MIL, 5 for Aunty..5 for don-know-wat-realtive...like tat mai leave few for us only lor...

I also want!! Can't get a home made one liao, MIL dun know, I also dun know, buy also not nice......
I love dumplings!!! But a lot of work lah :(. I rather go and buy then :P.

sansan, yalaa..buy wan not nice..not yummy wan lar..many rice but less 'ham liew'..
emotionalistic, I agreed it really take time to prepare lah..buy wan not yummy as homemade mah..hehe..can make a super big wan for urself ler...
Want to learn and cook for Mami lar...
1. The rice need to cook first ah??
2. Green Peas, is this the bean to make 'tong sui' wan ah?
3. Salted Egg - This one how to get ah? Boil the egg first?
4. Then u fried the mushroom, meat, dried chestnut, and dried shrimp together, is it?

i think that is 'wong dao' yellow colour bean is it? It's different from the green bean we used to cook tong sui.

1) rice no need to cook 1st, after soaked fry with oil & some onion ~ like tat more fragrant mah..
2) not the tong sui green peas lah..but i donno how to explain it ler..kenot find online oso..I try to snap photo for u ah..
3)take the raw salted egg york ok liao..
4)no..fried seperately..like tat baru can get the individul taste, mixed all not so nice lor..
a) dried shrimp + many many onion fry with oil, five spices powder, black say souce & some sugar only
b) mushroom + meat + dried chestnut fry with all seasoning..
lzbone, hehee..same same lah...I oso lazy to cook dumpling..but don like buy wan..so better don eat lah..haha

buy one got good one also, sometimes buy from people you know, like the office's ah soh or from neighbour's friends etc. Not the commercial type lah. I know where to 'cari makan'. :p
